JANUARY — The Reading Challenge
Hello Dear Reader,
Welcome to the first issue of the New Year! First off, let me just tell you how proud I am that I remember to put the correct year in the header. It’s something that I loathe changing because I forget every year… but not this time! That makes me feel just as snug as a bug in a rug 🙂 Alright, now back to the big stuff…
In this simple ode to the new year, I’ve got a little challenge for you. A small something that just might get you through the gloomy winter months that we’re still stuck in. Let’s call it “your first glimpse into the sunshine!”
Let’s check out some of those rays first:
KNEE SLAPPER THURSDAY
A little something I personally relate to…
Verse of the Month
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
Meet Servina!
As I mentioned in my previous newsletters, I wrote a children’s book based on the incredible story of how our beloved dog, Servina, came to join our family!
Here are some of Servina’s favorite things:
– Kids
– Running
– Sausage
– Exploring
And her all-time favorite, belly rubs!
And here is the only thing that Servina hates:
– Baths!
The 2024 Reading Challenge
January, the beginning of a new year, is notorious for people all over the world to make resolutions. Something that they want to accomplish or something that they want to stop throughout the year. But did you know that most people give up on their resolutions by February? By today, Thursday, January 25, seventy-five percent of New Years Resolutions are done. Let me emphasize that one more time — 75%!
We all fall short on our resolutions sometimes, but I have a secret. A secret on how to never fail your New Years Resolutions again — keep doing it even when you fail, even if it’s weeks or months later!
For example, if wanting to learn a new language is your thing, but you stop doing it in the second week of the month, don’t be discouraged! Even if you remember the resolution you made in March, you can still do it! The whole point of the resolution is to try!
That being said, I have a resolution for you to start now, January 25. It’s one that I’m personally doing myself.
My goal is to read one new classic book every month this year!
Now to make it simple, I narrowed down some classic I’ve been super interested in and ones that are, as some would call them, “non-negotiable.” And to make it super easy for you, I’ve include that list here!
But there’s one other thing you need in order to be successful on your resolution journey, and that, my dear friend, is accountability. Someone to encourage you, discuss with you, and sometimes even remind you to read.
That’s where I come in.
On Instagram, @theholyrelics, I’ll be your partner! I’m going to be posting content about the books, my progress, and ultimately, my reviews. It’s the perfect way to stay engaged with other readers in real time!
I’ve also got some extra resources that may help you in this new journey.
I’m so looking forward to you joining us, it’ll be an experience you won’t forget!
