Hello Dear Readers,

Happy Love Month! I hope your weather hasn’t been as whacky as mine. This month, I have what I promised! A romantic sneak peek into Book 2! But first, a little joke, the verse of the month, and if you’re inclined to, please leave me a review! Your reviews help more than you know; it gets the word out about my book and will help bring book 2 closer to a release date!

KNEE SLAPPER THURSDAY

What excuse did Adam give to his children when they asked why they no longer lived in the Garden of Eden?

Your mother ate us out of house and home.

VERSE OF THE MONTH

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

Matthew 5:8-9 ESV

Now, without further ado, I give you…

A Sneak Peek from Book 2!

The wind blew wildly against our faces, the smell of the salty water filling the air. The dark blue waves contrasted beautifully with the ship’s wood and white sails. It was like something out of a dream, birds still flying high above us. I suddenly felt his hand brush against my face, pulling my hair tenderly behind my ear. I could feel my heart begin to race as his hand lingered, his rough hands against my own soft face.

“Rivka,” he began, his throat catching slightly.

I know what he wants to say. At least, I think I know. But is it something I’m ready for? I cared for him too, but was that right? Maybe this was all a mistake. The days that have passed have only left me more confused rather than giving me clarity I have longed for, hoped for.

He pulled his hand from my face, resting it near my own on the wooden edge of the ship. “I know we haven’t known each other for a very long time, yet it feels like I’ve known you for a lifetime,” he paused, taking a moment to look at the crashing waves.

I bit the inside of my cheeks, the anticipation only growing. I took a silent, deep breath. This was where the conversation was going to end, I shouldn’t let it go any further. He hadn’t said much yet, but I knew it was only a matter of time. Only, when I went to open my mouth, no words came out. He must have not sensed what was going on, because he continued, his sea-green eyes finding my own.

“You coming back shows me that you care for me as well. You must; otherwise, what would be the point of coming? Either way, I think you deserve to know. You know that I have feelings for you. After our time in Jerusalem, our experience together, how could I not. You need to know that I have grown to care for you. Deeply,” he hesitated.

My own brain flooded with things to say to him. Stop, we’re just friends. I care for you too. We shouldn’t talk about this. I’m from another time. I love you. But the words just wouldn’t come out. It didn’t matter, because it seemed the silence gave him the courage to continue.

He placed his hand on top of my own, grasping it slightly giving me no room for escape.  “Rivka… I’m falling in love with you.”

Rarely did a moment like this happen, one where I didn’t have any words to say. Or rather, I didn’t have any words that would come out of my mouth. I stared at him; his dark, dirty blonde hair moving with the wind. Truly, I tried to get the words out. My mouth was open, my brain was sending the signals, but they just weren’t working together. It seemed like an eternity before he finally spoke again.

“Please, say something. I’ve lived in your silence for so long, so long that I don’t know how much longer I can stand this deafening stillness.” His eyes searched mine, but still no words came.

He shook his head. “You don’t have to tell me that you love me. I know that it may not be as much as that. But, please, Rivka, just tell me something.”

My own voice caught against my throat. Finally, the words were coming. It’s now or never.

          “Evander, I —”
