JUNE – Inspiration, Events, & Updates

Hello Dear Readers!

This being the first newsletter, there’s so much that I want to share with you! But before I start with that, I have received a lot of messages with a plethora of questions and I can’t help but oblige you in answering them!

What inspired me to write this book?

Now having “The Abditory” become a published book was not something that I originally planned to do. I began writing it about two years ago, during the beginning of the pandemic. As everyone knows, during that time, most people picked up a new hobby (or an old one), trying to pass the time as they lay stuck in their homes.

For me, I began to read a lot of books, but once my collection came to an end, I realized something. While many of the books that I had read were interesting, they were all missing at least one thing that I enjoyed in a book, whether it was action, mystery, romance, a historical setting, etc.. For a couple months, I just kept searching for the “perfect book” that would fit my taste completely, with no luck. Then a thought came to me — since I was home anyways, why don’t I just write down some ideas that I had over the months. Not with the intention to start a book, but just to have them for myself.

But as the pandemic seemed to consistently extend, my small notes of ideas slowly began to turn into pages and have dialogue instead of bullet points. As the weeks passed, my content grew. By the time I was married a year later, I had a handful of chapters and pages upon pages of ideas for those chapters. I had no intent on doing anything with it, but on my honeymoon I finally mentioned to my husband what I had been secretly working on the past year. He asked to read what I had so far and upon completion, much to my surprise, he suggested I try and publish it.

It’s safe to say I wasn’t completely on board with the idea, for many reasons: I didn’t have the plan to begin with, it would be difficult to do anyways, and if it did somehow get published people would be able to read my ideas and thoughts (a nerve wracking idea, indeed.) But after much discussion and a lot of prayer, I finally went ahead with it and here we are!

VERSE OF THE MONTH

This is something I’m going to be including in each newsletter. It’ll be something that I am meditating on in the coming month and something I encourage you to do as well!

In a world filled with uncertainty, persecution, constant change and distraction, it’s hard to stay persistent in the faith, especially when you don’t feel that what you’re doing is even making a difference. How are your small acts going to affect anyone, you wonder. But the beauty of serving an All-Knowing God is that, while we only see the single thread, He sees the tapestry as a whole. He knows your works and He connects them together in ways you couldn’t even begin to fathom.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 NASB
